burn rings on 686 revolver
New to this site, hoping someone can tell me if my 686-6 stainless could possibly have black circles around the chambers from the factory. I know it sounds stupid, but I have tried Hoppes #9as well as other solvents along with a scotch brite pad, and nothing seems to be changing.

Pick up a lead away cloth at your sporting goods store or some mothers mag wheel polish at an auto parts store. Both work well on stainless or nickel guns, but don't use them on a blue finish unless you want to remove it too.

Mothers works perfectly. Apply and wipe it off. Very little rubbing. Just make sure that you get it all out of the cylinder.

Howdy from South Carolina, and welcome to the forum.
I also like my 686's to shine, and use a lead remover cloth, available most places where guns are sold.

Welcome! If you just have to git rid of those rings, try this stuff called Nevr-Dull. Takes a little rubbing but it works great, I used it on a model 65 and it looked like new. It will not scratch. Lasts a long time. I got mine at the auto parts store.. I think it is also called wadding polish or something like that.
Hop this helps.
Peace,
Gordon

Welcome from NC. I like the 686. A lot. Shoot them a bunch and then clean the rings with Mother's Mag Polish. Some say it's a waste of time. I like the look.
