I registered a few days ago and am very impressed with the amount of information here.
I've lived in Chapin, SC for the past 6 years after retiring from the San Diego Sheriff's Dept. after 25 years. My first duty sidearm was a Model 66-1 made in 1978-79. In about 1992 I was able to buy it when we transitioned to the Glock G17 then to the G22. The 66 is stamped, "SD SHERIFF" on the left side under the cylinder along with a county property number.
Currently I volunteer as a firearms instructor and armorer for the Lexington County Sheriff's Dept.
Although a "Colt-aholic" I favor S&W double action revolvers over Colts. Right now my S&W collection stands at 17.
