Hello from a really green gal in Oregon.
I would like to learn about a Smith & Wesson 44 special that was my dads.
How to restore it, and LOL even age of gun.
I'm totally clueless, it is old, cool looking, and was my dads favorite.

Send it to me and I will take a look at it and date it for you......I will even clean it up and even test fire it for you to make sure it is safe......I love .44 specials.
Okay now that's out of my system, welcome. Post up some picture if you can and folks will be along shortly that will be able to identify the gun for you and estimate its age. If you need help with posting pictures you can email them to one of us and we can post them for you.....not that you can't figure it out yourself. Looking forward to seeing what you have and welcome again.

You are in the right place.
You can determine determine age with the serial number if you supply it to people here. If you want to go farther, you can get a letter from S&W.
Restore it. There are tons of things that you can do from cleaning it up w/o harming the value. Or you can go as far as having it reblued and other deep restoration.
There are a couple of forums here that would help. The gunsmithing and collectors can give a lot of advice. Depending on the age of your gun, the pertinent revolver section people can give a lot of advice.

Welcome from Tennessee. Need to find out exactly what you have. As long as it is mechanically sound, it could hold more value just cleaning what is there. Post info as requested in above posts. A good old .44 gets everyone exited. Pictures please.
