Hello from Maryland!
Hello! I'm here to increase the female population of the forum, and because I recently inherited a lovely Model 41 from my grandfather. Up until now my personal ownership includes a Ruger 10/22 Takedown and a Charter Arms Undercover- my husband owns a few of his own, but this is the first S&W in the household. I'm excited to learn as much as I can, but even more excited to finally get this pistol in my hands since it had to be shipped from out of state!

Welcome aboard. I read that MD is very restrictive when it comes to guns. I know it does not recognize any out of state license to carry. Do they still issue resident permits.

Yes, Maryland is very restrictive. No carry reciprocity, you have to meet strict criteria for a concealed carry permit. You also have to take a class and get a handgun qualification license in order to purchase a handgun. There are a lot of limits and red tape here, but I deal with it as best I can.
