New 45 Shield Owner(s) From VA
Hello All,
I have been following the site from quite awhile now. Many thanks to the folks who put in fair and logical comments. They really help people like myself that researches and researches and then researches some more, before making any purchase.
I finally pulled the trigger on two new M&P .45 Shields 180022 model for my and my wife's CC. Awesome deal today on popular online seller. We are new to CC and pistols. We are both from hunting families and I take our kids hunting; but all long barrel firearms. I have always been on the fence of needing a firearm beyond home defense and for hunting. And I don't necessarily feel unsafe out and about, but I do feel unprepared sometimes. I don't know if me getting older or the changing world we live in, or both; but I keep leaning to always being prepared to defend.
Oh, and my next long barrel will be the M&P 308 I am hoping the AR prices will come down in the down gun market, it was way to hot with the last administration...
I'm sure I'll have questions once I pick the new firearms up and get some practice in.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I got the shipping notification last night, I should be able to pick them up tomorrow or Thursday.
Any tips on comforting the misses? She's not necessarily afraid of the guns (I think), but she still remains hesitant to carry. She says her main concern is the kids safety. I have tried going through the steps on how the kids could even get their hands on the gun, all of which we wouldn't allow. I think she my be more intimidated by the small size as she only use to rifles and shotguns. I told her to just take her time and only carry once she feels comfortable. I don't plan on carrying until I get lots of hours of shooting in myself. The only handguns we have shot are visits to my parents house.

New guns are in hand Well in possession. Crazy fast shipping. LGS is only 5 minutes from work, so I had to go pick them up. I like to support local businesses, but with shipping in less than a day and saving $100 per gun, I had to order and transfer them. LGS gets plenty of my money for fishing supplies lol.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info and helpful folks here. As a fellow Shield .45 owner, I'm a little concerned that your wife might find it more of a handful than she'd like in her first pistol. It's a light gun with a heavy round, which equals more recoil. Be prepared to look for something in a less powerful caliber.
My wife won't shoot any pistol over a .22. I'm working on getting her to try a light .38 load in a K-frame.

I keep asking her if she wants to get a gun with less felt-recoil to get use to shooting pistols with. She said she wants to try the 45 first. I'm wondering if I should just get a .380 as well just in case. She knows my step mother shoots and carries a 45, so she feels confident she can too. I told my wife my step mother started with a 22 pistol and moved her way up.

I've shot a few .45s and I have to say that so far, the Shield has much less felt recoil than any other.
And as for prices? Yesterday's Cabelas lists a $399 AR15.
They sure aren't rising in price....yet
$80 more than a Ruger LC9s in the same flyer.
Crazy
