Hello from Florida
I'm more of a reader than a poster, but I do need to gather some information so I can make smart choices,so I figure I should introduce myself.
I'm in central FL and usually love being able to watch launches live.
For some strange reason only our S&W firearms have actual names.

Howdy from South Carolina, and welcome to the forum.
I watched a shuttle launch once from the causeway to the south. Very impressive when you consider that living people voluntarily strap themselves to those fiery contraptions.

The closest I got to a launch was on the way back from Orlando to Mims. But I saw the launch and was amazed at how fast that thing was going. I said, "Now I know why they call them rockets!" It just doesn't look like that on TV even in the shots from the ground probably because they zoom in and 'track' with the camera.
On another occasion I was feeling rather badly and laying in bed at the 'Space Shuttle' Best Western. There was a shuttle due, but it was cloudy and I didn't feel like getting up. All of a sudden that double sonic boom hit...... whoooooooooooeeeeeeee. Coooooooool. The sound of power.
I've been a space nut from the beginning. I was just a few years old but I remember my Dad telling us about Sputnik.
