Fresh meat here!
Howdy folks from Texas. I am new here and I’m glad to be a part. I everyday carry my 642 with a back up 5 rounds in a speed strip on the belt. I have been a lurker on the forum for a while and decided it was time to join and contribute.

Welcome aboard. You’ve come to the right place for all things Smith & Wesson. Good shootin’,
Doug (also currently in Texas)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.
A little background on my carry life. Started off 3 years ago carrying a Glock 19. I carried that for a years or so and went to a 45 shield. I carried that for a year and we got a Glock 43. I still carry both Glocks for time to time but got rid of the shield. The shield was a great gun but I liked the Glocks a little better. I have always wanted a smith and Wesson 642 and finally got one from a friend with 100 rounds through it. It’s an older no lock version which is also what I wanted. Ever since I have picked it up I have not put it down. Believe it or not I shoot it better than my 43. I have a bad back do to scoliosis and after working all day plumbing carrying a fully loaded g19 my back was on fire. Since moving to the 642 my back no longer hurts and I forget it’s there. Armed with 10 rounds of federal hydra shok 38 special +p I am more than confident. I am kind of a minimalist carrier I guess you would say. Phone, wallet, gun, knife flashlight and extra ammo that’s it. There are times when I do carry my higher capacity firearms but the 642 really hits the sweet spot. The other thing about the 642 is that my wife has the identical gun although with a lock. No big deal. What I like is that she can pick up my carry gun and is automatically familiar and it has the same manual of arms.
Carry on friends! God bless you all!
