Hello,
I've been lurking for a few years. I thought I should give an introduction. I became interested in this forum because of my fascination with a S&W 4516-1 handgun.
I recall Massod Ayoob writing an article in Guns & Ammo a long time ago. I initially bought a S & W 4516 and had problems FTE and FTF which caused me to lose faith and returned gun back to the dealer. A few years later, I read that Smith & Wesson fixed the problems and issues with -1, -2 revisions. I decided to give it another try and bought a brand new S&W 4516-1 back in the late 1990's.
The 4516-1 is reliable has not let me down yet. I have fired a couple thousand rounds through it and it goes bang every time. The interesting thing is that I go back and forth with the question sell and buy the latest and greatest firearm being sold today or hang on to this piece because they no longer make them and pass it on to my family as a heirloom?
I recently bought Hogue rubber grips and bought two extra magazines. I am still undecided if I should buy some night sights or just leave it stock with OEM sights? I did a bit of research on night sights and will have to talk with Tricon or another manufacturer for advise.
Any way, I wanted to say hello and appreciate the members knowledge and advise on this forum.
