Hello everyone,
Very long time reader now registered. I attempted to register many years ago, but it did not work. Attempted to contact the site admin to get the issue resolved, but got no response, so gave up on it. Just decided to give it another shot and it worked.
We live in far northern CA. We are currently evacuated due to wild land fires, but it looks like we can return in the proximate future.
I put in over thirty years as an LEO, then over sixteen as a volunteer fire fighter/EMT, eventually becoming chief of two VFD simultaneously.
Now completely retired since I am old. Lots of other hobbies besides shooting, including fly fishing and photography. Used to race vintage sports cars, but ran out of loot and years.

I have long been aware of the UP. Among other addictions, I am a fly fisher. Michigan Supreme Court Justice John Voelker, AKA Robert Traver ('Anatomy of a Murder') was from there. He is one of the icons of fly fishing. He eloquently wrote of the place he loved and called home. He could also write with a subtle and understated humor. One of the chapters in his 'Anatomy of a Fly Fisherman' starts with the assertion that us fly fishers are a minimalist lot, only needing the barest essentials in pursuit of the elusive trout. You can figure out where that one goes. That is from whom I learned of the UP.

The home of Juan Manuel Fangio. For my money, the finest Formula One driver who ever lived. He could go faster than his competitors while using fewer RPMs when the tach was checked after a race.
