Greetings from Newfoundland!
Happy to be on board with this crew! I recently retired from the Los Angeles Police Dept after 26 years. Moved to Newfoundland, Canada with my Newfoundland born wife. As getting my pistols into Canada was possible, but an absolute pain, I started over once I got here. Recently got very lucky and scored two beautiful guns to re-start my collection here in Canada. 1. Mod 14 (no dash) 6” .38 Special and a Mod 17-3 6” .22lr. Both are in excellent almost new condition with original boxes. Are there any other Canucks in this crew?

I don't live there, but have a close friend that does. He lives in St. John's. He got there the same way you did, married a Canadian woman he met while in the service stationed in Hawaii. We were classmates in gunsmithing school nearly 60 years ago.

I spent the summer of 1969 in Goose Cove, just south of St. Anthony. I taught fishermen’s kids to swim the 42 degree North Atlantic as part of summer camp duties. There were about 300 folks there then, and only cod fishing sustained them. I listened to the moon landing over the radio. My fishing family host patriarch claimed it was just American propaganda. I actually heard the statement, “If God had meant man to fly, he would have given him wings.” Uncle Pierce Murrin.
The next summer I supervised numerous kid camps across Quebec, Labrador and NFLND from St. Anthony. Worked for the Grenfell Association which ran medical services and an orphanage. Flew out by float plane each week to remote villages.
It’s a beautiful area with wonderful people. Where are you?

I haven't been to Newfoundland but have been up in Labrador on a mining finance deal. All I remember is no sunshine and low temps. I hope it all works out for you. Certainly you appreciate there must be a good reason why Newfy women go elsewhere to find a mate.

Not to disparage my birthplace, but my Dad said that when people left Newfoundland they were given a rock. The goal was to give enough away that nothing remained.
