Default new to shooting

I just found this forum and joined today. I started shooting in January of this year. My husband loaned me his 686-1 4" for an NRA beginning handgun class and I was hooked. Got private instruction, started shooting ipsc and range leagues, bought a reloader, and then a pre model 10 (for mothers day) and a 442 for carry. When I first started competing and the guys would ask what i was using I'd say "A Smith and Wesson .357 revolver, but I'm shooting .38s" in an enthusiatic newbie way. Now I know better and just say.." a 686" and throw in a little sneer

I think I've become a gun whore. Now I want a .22 to use to teach my kids. Looking for a k frame that won't break the bank. They actually shoot the .38 special and are pretty good.

I'm very impressed with the generosity, kindness and encouragement I've seen and experienced within the shooting community.
In real life, I'm married 17 years, 4 kids (3 are early teenagers) and a small animal veterinarian with a nice practice. My clients are mostly military and retired, so i find it easy to ask advice and/or just talk guns. Some of them actually give me ammo and cabelas gift cards as thank you gifts.

I look forward to learning as much as I can.

Jo

Back when I first got into handguns I was the same way. I must have picked up 10 different handguns in my first 8 months....

Welcome from PA!

Welcome, welcome.

I don't know about a K-frame that won't break the bank, but I know that J-frames are great for small hands, although with their typical short barrels they're hard to shoot accurately.

I hate to discourage someone from getting a revolver, so let me suggest also getting a 22A in addition to the K-frame 22. I like mine with the fluted barrel:

I had to post again when I saw the mother's day Model 10.

My wife and I took NRA Basic Pistol together for Valentines Day.
