Default New at collecting

Recently I was given four handguns by my father in law. The guns belonged to his father in law. I know the one S&W is pretty old and as close as I can come is around 1895 to1915. This got me interested again in collecting guns, something I used to do, but early on in life when babies were small and money was tight I had to sell my handguns. I am now in a position to start collecting again and I found this fourum when I was trying to find the origin of this particular gun. He also gave me a .38 snub nose of newer origin and two Ivers and Johnson revolvers. I was always partial to S&W though.
Look forward to learning new things and resurrecting some of the old that I haven't referred to in a long time.

Default Welcome from NC.

I understand your situation. I had a nice start on a collection of WWII firearms before I decided to go back to college and get my degree. The collection paid for a few books and some of the tution. Now that I am retired, I am not sure I made the right decision. .... Earl
