Default 45 AR Light loads

I just tried a new light load for my 1st & 2nd Hand Ejectors. Cast 200 gr RNFP over 4gr of Titegroup. Very light and grouped good offhand for plinking at 30 feet.

Good on you, Tom.

Not every load that we shoot has to burn your eyebrows off!

Did you chronograph them by chance?

That would be good to know too!

I have loaded lead 200 grainers into .45 Auto Rim cases over 3.5 grains of Bullseye, the same target load I feed my Gold Cup but in the rimmed case. For bullets, I cast the Lyman 452460 SWC or use the swaged Speer SWC. I seat them just like in the ACP case and use the same taper crimp as the ACP case.

I have never clocked it but the books say about 730 fps.

I thought I'd be smart at one point in my loading career and load some 160gr LRNFP bullets with this same load. When I shot them out of my 625 -8's 4" barrel I got quite a surprise.

The sounded kind of funny. Pop, .....................................DING!

And that was at 20 yards!

Needless to say, I was the laughing stock of the range that day!

I find a 230 gr lrn over 3.5 gr of Clays to be a nice load in a Mod 25.

With the 200 grain bullet in my 4 inch 625 - 4.2 grains of Trail Boss chronos 692 fps and 5.0 grains chronos 777 fps. I like the 5.0 grain load.

4 gr. of Tite group under a 200rnfp comes out about 675 from my 625-3 4" with AR brass. my favorite is 4.5 TG with 230 cf. about 725 fps.
