Default Reloading for the .38 S&W Baby Russian

Hi to all reloading-freaks!

I will start today an experience-thread about low-pressure ammo for the 1877 Baby Russian.
My goal is a safe and (for this kind of gun) accurate load for the 11- and 16-yards distance.
It should hold the 9-ring or better, which means a circle of 4 inches, if shot from a rest.
It is necessary to use nitro-powder. I will use it mostly in a indoor-shooting-range.

Here we start with the first tryouts. I know that the .355 bullet is in theory to small. But I feel
enough resistance while I press the bullets in the barrel.

They look ugly, but if they meet my goal.. who cares?

Swissman, I don't have any loads to recommend. However, I have often used all-lead (no alloy) .357/.358 bullets in .38 S&W with some success.
Why are you using the cut-off .38 Special cases? Is the .38 S&W not available in your wonderful land?
Best of luck.

I believe you should begin by slugging the cylinder throats and the barrel. Then you'll have the dimensions necessary to access the situation.
