Default Recommendations for Electronic Dispensers/Scales???

I'm thinking about getting an electronic dispenser and scale combo. RCBS and Lyman make them and probably others. Anyone have any experience and/or recommendations for these? Are there any issues to watch out for? Are they as accurate as a regular scale?

PACT is made in Texas if that matters. I've been using their scale for a year now with good results. They have a matching dispenser I'm considering buying that communicates with IR.

Friends report good results with the Green thing. Got one buddy moving out of his precision rifle days and has a used setup for sale.

For 600 to 1000 yard ammo, trickle and weigh, or get the Prometheus.

Bob - unless someone picked up the mnfg. option I thought the Prometheus was no longer in production.
The RCBS Chargemaster is a pretty nice choice.

i have the pact set up and like it alot. havent used it much yet but so far so good. i had an rcbs scale that was made by pact so i oppted for the pact dispenser because it was cheaper than the rcbs and was told buy some fellow loaders it was faster than the rcbs. dont know if thats true or not but my set up works great for me.

I have the Lyman 1200 DPS3 it works great have used it for both light pistol, and rifle loads. Whichever one you get, follow the instructions carefully they all have a warm up period, and do not like strong drafts or vibration. If you stick to the rules they work great. You can go to the Midway, or Cabellas web-sights and check the reviews plenty of info there.

Good shooting

This is a good scale. I've had mine for about one year now, and with 10grain and 20grain check weights, you are always certain that the scale is reading correctly. I use mine for handgun; that's all I load.
It WILL DRIFT unless you always leave it on. I sent in my first one to RCBS; they sent me another that does same thing. Leave it on, hit the zero occasionally in case it drifts off of zero. No problem.
Happy with it.
Sonny

+1 on RCBS. I have the Chargemaster 1500 Combo and get excellent results and stability. It works with the wind cover in place or in a room with no drafts. If I remember I got it for under $300 on somebody's sale. I do not think it was Midway, maybe Cabela's. I just checked Cabela's -- sale price 299.99 with a $10 rebate.

Most of my other gear is RCBS, so I might as well go green. I've been using a 10-10 RCBS for 30 years. It went wacky on me several years ago and RCBS rebuilt it for free. I was pretty impressed. I think it would be really nice not to have to keep checking the scale and my powder dispenser and using the dribbler. Thanks for the info!

BTW, how long does it take to dispense a charge? I guess it depends on the charge, but what about 20 grains of 2400 or 8 grains of Unique?

Dan

Once the dispenser remembers your weight it is pretty fast. I usually get about 3 charges a head and seat a bullet while the dispenser is working. Sometimes the static in the air can give problems with powders like unique since it can come in clumps which causes an overweight. But most of the time it is great.
