Default Speer #4684--anyone used 'em?

Greetings, all:

Anyone here ever used Speer's #4684 .45 Colt bullets? They're 250-grain lead semi-wadcutters, 0.452", and (I presume) swaged. Here's a link.

I suspect that these (presumably) swaged bullets would be softer than the usual commercial cast stuff, and thus might lead the gun less at standard .45 Colt velocities.

Anyway, if you've shot any of these, I'd be interested to hear your impressions of them.

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Speer swaged bullets have been around a long time. I used them in a .45 Blackhawk 30+ year ago and it looked like I had washed the inside of my barrel with lead. They were shot at standard .45 Colt since I was going to use them in a late first gen SAA. After that initial trip to the range, I gave the rest away and haven't looked back.
They might have changed since then, or it might have been the Ruger rifling or something, but I wasn't about to experiment.

Ron,
I've used them in several of my .45 Colts. In my experience they do lead the bore quickly. I have always kept them to 900 fps or less, and in firing them through quite a few different guns, I have found that they are fairly accurate as long as you keep speeds below 800 fps, and closer to 700 is better yet. They are almost pure lead and will lead badly once speeds reach 900. They even leaded my bores at 800 fps, but not so badly that it totally ruined the accuracy.

Guys, thanks for the info--that's one less tree I'll need to bark up.

Thanks again, and Semper Fi.
