Yea, it's not real evident from Lee's advertisement but there are significant differences that make it well worth the extra $25 or so.
I had a early lee turret and now have the Classic. Going from memory (which sometimes fails) base is heavy cast steel vs hollow cast aloy. Ram is larger in diameter and has simpler auto index adjustment/ disengage. Linkage is all steel and has less slop. Primer catch system is WAY better too. Lastly, I believe it will handle a longer cartridge than the standard turret too.

Trust me, buy the Classic and don't look back. ( p.s. Safety prime, Pro powder ugrade and powder extension are very worthwhile too.)
Read the reviews on MidwayUSA for more detains.

Please spend the extra money for the Classic Cast. I've had both and they both work fine, but the Classic Cast is just that much better. Still, my brother loads on my original turret press that I bought in '84.

I have the 4 hole turret press (not the classic). I have loaded many thousands of handgun rounds with this press. (.380ACP, 9mm, .38spe, .357 magnum, and .45 ACP). My only complaint is when de-priming, the spent primers are all over the place. Makes a mess. The "classic" press is supposed to have a better system. Some day I may try one to see if it really is better.

Having had both I can tell you it IS a much better system. The Classic funnels decapped spent primers right through the center of the ram into a capped clear plastic tube for collection. The tube (approx: 1/2" ID x 15"L) just pushes onto a nipple on the bottom of the ram and rides up and down with it. Typical Lee. Simple but effective! In the 2000+ rounds I've loaded on my new classic, the machine has spit MAYBE 2-3 primers on the floor.

FWIW, you can buy the stripped classic press from Midway for $85 and transfer your turrets, powder measure etc right over. You could likely get 1/2 that back by Ebaying your old press too.
No affiliation yada, yada.....

I have the Classic and find it very good for my needs, I load pretty much all handgun calibers (semi auto and revolver plus 3 rifle calibers. Once you have the dies set in the the extra turret plates it's easy to switch. Get the Pro Auto Disk,Auto Disk Riser and Safety Prime and you are ready to go.
The Classic is a heavier duty press.

Here is a excellent review.

I have several reloading presses including two Dillon 550B's (which I dearly LOVE). However, there are needs for a single stage press (I use an RCBS Rockchucker) and there will ALWAYS be room on my reloading bench for a Lee Classic Cast Turret press for "small lot" loads. You can change calibers in seconds. It is a BRILLIANT design and the absolute best value in a reloading press.

When people ask me about starting to reload THIS is the press I recommend to the new reloader. It is as easy to understand and operate as a single station press but, after a bit of use, becomes a 150-200 loaded cartridges an hour and that will work for an awful lot of people permanently. The quality of ammo loaded is equal to any rig out there, too.
