Default Old cast lead rnds - lube old or gone - any probs?

So I've got some old swagged lead bullets. Lube is there for some and not others, in any case 20 yrs old. What problems with using them in loads now?
I don't cast myself, and have no way to re-lube these. A lot of them look fully lubed. What's the down side? Just extra leading, or is there a safety factor? I only load for target at low to mid range of the loading manuals. Talking .45 and 9mms by the way.

THanks

I see no safety issues--I do see leading issues. Chuck them and start over.

You can buy an inexpensive bottle of Lee Liquid Alox and lube the bullets without equipment other than a bit of wax paper and a recycled butter tub.

Look here:

Lee Precision,Inc. Instruction Sheets

Scroll down to "lube and sizing kit" for instructions on how to use.

You will NOT need to size - just tumble lube the bullets, let dry overnight and use.

Yes, I vote for the re-lube if you want & use them. The other options are to load as-is, or put them in the casting pot.

Depending on how many there are I suggest that you seperate them lubed and unlubed and load them. Then load the mags one lubed one unlubed. .45 doesn't need a lot of lube. I don't know about 9mm.You can probably get away with it. If you have a whole bunch of them i would get a bottle of the lee alox and relube. Its cheap and easy.

Thanks for the responses.
Since there are about 500 each of the .45 and 9mm, looks like relubing is the best option.
I don't cast so I didn't realize how easy that could be.

Do the Lee Liquid Alox thing. It's fast, easy, and to me seems to be pretty effective. A little bottle goes a long way. I use it on all the cast bullets I shoot just as insurance.

All the Best,

I was in need of a couple of rounds to try a new powder with, so I put 10 rnds together. No probs at all since they had grease in the grooves.
When I said the lube was gone, I may have mis-stated. The bullet grease has moved from the grooves on a lot of the rounds, but the bullets are all greasy. No real dry bullets at all.
