45 wadcutters
Anybody loading a full wadcutter in 45acp or 45AR? Do any of the die makers have a seating plug for that? I'd like to try them in the 625. I believe Penn make a full wadcutter. I'd think it would be a good plinking load.

What kind of loads do you use for those bullets? Does the deep seating cause pressure concerns?

Mark257, they dont seat as deep as they look if crimped in the crimp groove. I load with 5.5 gr Unique with a Win. primer. Not a hot load and never noticed any pressure sign's, is accurate in my M-22-4.

45LC wadcutters
Attached is a photo of 255g LWCs loaded in 45LC cases. They come from Mt. Baldy Bullets at .453, so could easily be loaded in 45ACP or AR.
Although my 45LC load data is not a basis for AR/ACP loading, I provide it FYI: crimped in crimp groove over 7.0g Unique, good for 797fps from a 4" 625- Mountain Gun.
These make very nice, very big, very round holes in paper, and I loaded them in my house gun for quite some time. Very confident in them.

this wadcutter bullet is the bullet Jim Cirillo liked to use in his 45 revolvers in his Gunfighter book.

I load 180gr full wadcutters over 7.5gr of Unique in .44 Special for my Charter Bulldog. Very mild and controllable. Looks pretty scary from the front side, too.

Any reason why you couldn't flip a regular lswc over and use it for a wadcutter?

Probably be unstable, trying to get the heavy end in the back.

.45 wadcutter
I used the .45 wadcutter in a S&W Model 25-2 for bowling pins for a bit but the reloads were slowed by that square bullet. I switched to a 225 grain truncated cone bullet and that was the ticket. I called Redding and they sent me a wadcutter stem for my seating die and I still have it. I think that I am going to load some more WC's to plink with as they were wonderfully accurate in my revolver.

Close!
8x57 Turk brass chargers - use them to carry 5 rounds at a time for the SAA.
