Default 460 XVR and 200 gr lead RNFP

I've loaded just 250 gr and 300gr lead bullets for my 460 xvr using various powders. I've reported before that I get crummy group sizes and the bullets tumble, key hole the target, and just seem to go "that way".

I've said before that the goofy gain twist barrel of the XVR is NOT kind to lead bullets. Well, with nothing else to loose, I loaded 15 rounds with 200gr lead RNFP bullets with 14.6 gr of Trail Boss powder. I was freaking amazed. I shot all 15 rounds in a 4" group at 50 yards. That was shooting double action off a rest.

This 4" group can not be compared to 1-1/2 to 2" groups (at 100 yds) when shooting full magnum 200gr FTX bullets. But, it is a fun round that is accurate enough for most any type of killing.

I'll take my Chrony next time to check the velocities, etc. of the "little" lead bullet.
