Default .30 Caliber cast rifle bullet source?

Looking for a source for .30 caliber cast rifle bullets, any suggestions? Also seeking loading data for cast bullets in .30-06 using Unique powder. Looking for a mild plinking load and prefer to use Unique as I have lots of it. I use 15 gr. of Unique in .35 Whelen with 200 gr. cast bullet, would the same charge be safe in .30-06 with 150-170 gr. cast bullet?

Midway USA has a bunch of cast bullets. I think I've seen .30 cals in their catalogs.

You could also check Missouri Bullet to see if they make one.

15 gr. of Unique should be alright for any 150-170 gr. bullet listed in Lymans Cast Bullet Manual for the .30-06. You would have to look at your bullets when you find some and determine if they are close enough to swap data for.

Default 30 Caliber cast

I shoot Missouri Bullets 165 grain in my 30/30 Contender
It shoots very well. I use Trail Boss, I don't recall the load but it is on the web site.

For the Lyman 173 gr. 311041 GC bullet, Lyman #49 lists 12 gr Unique as a starting load of 1504 fps and a max load of 16.5 gr giving 1811 fps.

I use the RCBS 150gr RNFP both with and w/o checks. If you don't cast, then try and get a hard cast bullet and run 10.5 to 11.0 gr of Unique for 30-30. Little more for 30-06. I don't remember my loads for the 06 but they work great.

For 30/06, I've had really good results with a cast lead 170 grain bullet from a Lee mould, with a gas check, using 16.5 grains Unique. The Lyman Cast Bullet manual shows this load should give 1811 Feet per second.

For some reason, the gas check makes all the difference for me to get a reduced velocity cast lead bullet to shoot to point of aim in my rifles. I bought some 165 grain .30 caliber cast lead bullets from Missouri Bullet Company, they had no gas checks, and at 50 yards they would hit 8-10" low, I didn't have enough elevation on my rear sight to get point of aim, point of impact hits. Using cast lead bullets with a gas check, I only have to raise the rear sight two steps in elevation to get 50 yard hits, with the rifle zeroed for factory jacketed ammo. This is the case for my 30/30 Winchester and my Browning 1895 30/06 lever rifle.

Beartooth Bullets offer a selection of .30 caliber cast lead bullets with a gas check.

Casting your own is very satisfying, and can get your cost per round below .10 cents per round.....
