Default 380 load data needed.

I have been reading up on 380 loads and I really can't find much reference on cast bullets.

I will be using 102 grain LRN and Unique or Bullseye with WSP primers.

Please let me know any load data you have experience with using this bullet and powders.

Thanks!

This maybe of some use ?
9x18 Makarov Load Data - Handloads.Com
Or
Lyman "48th Edition Reloading Handbook" Book - MidwayUSA
I would start at 2.6-2.8gr with a COL of .965-.970" and work up.

Dom,
I found two loads with cast bullets on LoadData.com.

One is 2.5gr of Bullseye the other is 3.2gr Unique. both of them were a 103gr LSWC and the OAL was .984".

Hope this helps!

FWIW I like 3.0 gr of Bullseye under Ranier Ballistics' 95 gr plated round nose. I figure that would work well with the 102 gr as well but of course you should work up to that.

I picked up a Lee 111 gr single cavity mold at a gun show earlier this year and finally got around to trying some.

The smallest charge I can get of Bullseye out of my Lee Auto Disk is 2.8 gr and that turned out to be a shade too warm for my taste. It might be just the ticket with the 102 gr cast.

I have loaded up some of the 111s with 2.5 gr of Unique to try.

Thumbs up on the 2.5 gr Unique under the Lee 356-111-1R. Mild and accurate.

I called Alliant Powder and with a 95 gr RN lead cast bullet, they recommend 2.0 to 2.5 grains of Red Dot (I know it's not the powder you use, but it's still a good data point). I'll be testing that either this monday if the range is open or next weekend for the first time as I just got a 380 a few days ago. I'll even chrono the results and share if anyone is interested.

Adding a pic of my 8 test rounds from the Bersa Thunder from 7 yards. Don't know what I did on those two flyers.

Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook as a lot of lead data.

92gr LRN bullet .980" OAL
1.9-2.5gr 700X
2.8-4.1gr SR-4756
2.4-3.0gr Bullseye
2.0-2.6gr Red Dot
2.1-3.0gr Green Dot
3.1-3.7gr Unique
2.3-3.5gr W231

121gr LRN .980" OAL
1.4-1.9gr 700X
2.3-3.5gr SR-4756
1.6-2.1gr Bullseye
1.6-2.1gr Red Dot
1.7-2.3gr Green Dot
2.2-2.8gr Unique
2.1-3.2gr W231

Hope that helps and even though I think I transposed the data correctly mistakes happen...

Cartridge Loads - Hodgdon Reloading Data Center - data.hodgdon.com

I loaded up some 95g LRN and FMJ with Tite Group from this page. They worked very well.

Well, I went out to the range with 95 Gr LCRN with a Overall length of 0.950", out of a 2.75" barrel, using 2.0 grains of Red Dot I had a 10 shot ave velocity of 690 fps, with 2.2 gr RD I had 10 shot ave velocity of 750 and with 2.5 gr RD I had a 10shot ave velocity of 810. Non +P 95 Gr JHP Bonded Winchester self defense ammo was chronoed at just over 900 fps, so I feel like I didn't max the round out, but I also have no desire to do so either as the LCRN are for target practice only. I did have one ejection issue at the 2.2 gr batch, not entirely sure why. I'll most likely load at 2.5 grains as that was a nice shooting target load.

Thanks everyone, I emailed Alliant and they gave me the following info for the 102 G. LRN:

Bullseye: 2 to 2.8
Unique: 2.6 to 3.3

I will work up a load as soon as I make the bullets and get a supply of brass I am waiting for. I will let you know how they come out.

Here's what I use with LRN bullets:

95gr. Laser Cast or Missouri Bullet LRN
3 gr. Win-231
Win Primer
Mixed Brass
OAL: .957
About 700 +/- fps out of my Kel-Tec P3-AT

I get no feeding or firing failures with this load and LRN bullets.
