Recently, I was able to pass on some reloading equipment to our oldest son. He got bit big time and honestly, I'm glad! No regrets about getting/giving him some "stuff".
Well, now I have a real problem. I decided to give our one son in law a setup too. Awhile back I left my Glock 22 RTF in one of his desk drawers and then came home. About 1000 miles home!
While I miss the firearm, never shot it too well but felt well armed with it, I think I have burdened this young couple with something they cannot afford to "feed"! They are very frugal, don't get me wrong, but as you well know, milk and such comes before bullets.
I think I need to try to remedy that a bit! So, to try to make that happen, I began accumulating some stuff I didn't have duplicates of. The main this was scales. Personally, I'm not too keen on the digital ones, just me, not throwing stones at all. Just me.
To be honest, I'm not too enamored with the Dillon manual scale nor the Lyman or for that matter any of the other 3 poise ones available today. Again, just me, don't stone me, friends!
At any rate, we found an old Texan that is just like the one I currently use and gave it to son #1. Actually, I guess I gave him mine and I kept the one I bought for him! (I think I just answered my own dilemma! Read on though!
)
So, the search was on for a third Texan. They just "feel" and look like they are quality. Paul5388 says "Texan stuff was mostly over engineered." OK, since it isn't new, that is cool!
Long story short, couldn't find one. Remembering that there was another scale that used the same beam, a Hornady, I began looking for one of them.
Well, there was one on ebay and the auction was ending soon so I jumped on it and won. When the scale arrived I was really pleased at the condition and quality of the Hornady (Pacific) scale.
I went through all of the check weights in the Lyman Check Weight set I had and this thing is rock solid and right on!
OK, now, this thing is soooooooooooooooo nice, and here is the dilemma, do I pass this on or keep it and give him the good old Texan. Both are of exceptional quality and condition.
Might be kind of hard looking at that red thing in the sea of blue on my reloading bench. Might get me kind of patriotic though being red and set against that blue field!
I know this is kind of silly but, hey, I thought it would liven your day!
Go ahead and give me your opinion on what to do! Should I pass it on or the Texan?

Give him either one. Why not keep the one You like the best? If you are giving it to them so they can reload for the Glock then that's a pretty nice thing and if I read this correctly you already gave them the Glock also.
