Default 460S&W NEW target data matches POI 200xpb

I have a PC 10.5 460 S&W, I had been looking for data that would let me shoot Target loads and Hunting loads to the same POI at 100yrds. Well I had to make my own data, This is what I got.

My hunting load consists of Barnes 200gr xpb, 53gr H110 (Gunblast load Data) LRM primer 59mm OAL, *FULLY RESIZED BRASS* with an extra firm crimp. I also tried the Gunblast Target Data with 270grSAA Titegroup and Trailboss but found the accuracy to be lacking.

http://www.gunblast.com/SW460XVR.htm

I came up with 11.0 - 12.0 gr RedDot , 255 Kieth bullet, 54mm OAL, LR primer. *FULLY RESIZED BRASS* with a firm crimp. Accuracy was excellent, grouped just as tight as my hunting load (2"), and matched the POI at 100yrds. AND the 11.0gr load was most accurate of the two!

Note: If you try AA 1680 for 460 S&W, treat it like H110, use magnum primers and a firm crimp.

Great intel...

I gave up on shooting lead out w/ trailboss powder of my XVR due to poor accuracy. No I'll have to find some RedDot and try again.

Do you have any idea as to the velocity of that 255gr/RedDot load? If you are getting those trajectories at 100 yds, that lead slug must really be flying.

How do those loads print at 50 yards.

Do you know what kind of rifling is in that 10.5 PC barrel? My XVR has the gain twist rifleing. I blame that on not being able to stabilize a heavy bullet.

What was the hardenss of those 255 gr bullets?

I don't have a chronograph, but I am guessing around 1200fps on the 255, it prints low at 50 yrds. Slow moving 255gr has a much bigger arc. POI just happens to match at 100yds, the bullet is still on the upswing. The 255's are hardcast 15 bhn.

Factory 200gr hornady ftx ammo shot 10" lower than my 200xpb H110 load. When i shot factory ammo I never could find a handload that would come close to the POI of the hornady ammo.

My 10.5 PC has gain twist also, but has a loather walther barrel.
