Default Inexpensive Primers Once Again

Just got a flyer from Natchez and they have Tula primers for $18.00. I have never tried that brand, but sure will consider it.

They are made in the same factory in Russia as Wolf primers are. I have used thousands of them with only 1 FTF.

I did just stock up on Wolf primers again. Widener's had them, mostly from a previous shipment that they had been storing, and were selling them for that same price. I bought a bunch and two days after buying all but standard large pistol ones because they were out, a new shipment came in! Imagine the coincidence! Of course, I got an email from them telling me there were in stock, even though I didn't ask them to!

The new shipment was only 50 cents p/1000 more too. I called a friend right quick and we bought 10,000. With the shared hazmat, it came to $22 /1000, still cheap.

FWIW

They aren't on their website...

Of course, they won't sell to me since I'm in Georgia.

TN, GA or AL; don't want to undercut their dealers in those states.

I don't like it either, but I understand it.

I thought I did well when I picked up a brick of CCI LP primers for $25 OTD recently. That Hazmat fee is brutal for small orders. Still irritated that Cabela's charges the fee when you have them shipped to store. When they ship them to their own store all the time.... argh

The difference is in the method of shipping. I order primers and powder all the time for my business and never pay a haz-mat fee, because it is shipped by freight line not UPS or FED-Ex. I have no doubt that Cabela's receives their primers and powder the same way.

The only reason that I do not ship primers and powder to mail order customers of TVB is because I refuse to be a party to the extortion practiced by the two previously mentioned shippers. As a matter of fact I refuse to ship anything with them. The stuff came to me on an 18 wheeler and if not sold to local people or at gunshows it leaves through the post office, even guns. Thus avoiding another extortion racket there. Why would I want a customer to pay an additional $50 or $75 for a handgun when it could be $15?

At least, that is a somewhat reasonable price for primers.

I wonder if they'd sell my friend from Florida primers, and he could pick them up?

Wonder if they have a local pick up option?

I would be leery of their large pistol magnum primers. I've had a bad experience with Wolf. Seems as though "Magnum" means something different to the Russians. They didn't work well at all with H110/W296, and I've decided to only use CCI350 from now on.

On the other hand, I've had excellent results with Wolf Large Pistol primers and would love to stock up.

Well I quess I'm going to find out just how good they are. I've held out as long as I could & loaded up my last 1000 sp primers on monday.

I ordered 10,000 wolf sp primers from widener's & they showed up today.

I'm so tempted. I figured 5000 would end up costing me $23/1000, delivered, once shipping and HAZMAT is added. So, I'll wait to see what I find at the gun show in Chantilly this weekend and check proces there.

I just ran out of winchester sp primers. Around my little corner of the world their getting $35 to $40 a 1000 for any sp primers if I can find them at all. There's a ton of lr primers followed by lp primers. The different brands of sr primers started showing up this spring.

Enough people have reported good results with the wolf primers so there shouldn't be a problem. I plan on loading my pet loads & taking my pistols to the 50yd line. Any problems will show up there.

They cost me $226.12 to get to the door, we'll see.
