Default Deer load for .257 Roberts?

Can anyone suggest a good deer load for .257 Roberts? I prefer to use 100gr. or 120gr. bullets and IMR powder, I have a lot of IMR 4064 if anyyone has loads for that powder. I have lots of reloading books, I am looking for a load that you have field experience with rather than being referred to the published data.

I've loaded .257 Roberts for one of my nephew for years. CCI standard primers, 44 grains IMR 4831, Speer 120 grain spitzer.

That load has taken several deer and a spike elk in my nephew's Browning BLR.

Marksman.
I have a .257 Ackley Improved and have had great success using Berger's relatively new 115 grain "Match Hunting VLD" bullets. As the name implies (very low drag) they have a high ballistics coefficient (G1=.466 / G7 =.239). They suggest a barrel rate of twist of 1 in 10 but mine is a 1 in 12 and they stabilize just fine. You will have to play with the seating depth in the range of +.010 to -.030. Initially you may not be super impressed with 100 yard groups but they are very impressive at 250 yards plus. Bullet performance on medium sized game such as deer and antelope has been very good. For load data I would contact Berger direct. Good luck.

Default .257 Roberts load

I've found my most accurate load in my .257 is the Sierra ProHunter 100 gr on top of 45 gr of IMR 4350. OAL 2.865"
I use a Remington 700 Classic. I also get MOA with the Sierra 87 grain Spitzer on top of 41gr of 4064.
The .257 Roberts really shines when handloaded !! Hope this helps. G Lynch
