I've heard people say that with these things, you run it over the brass a few times and when it doesn't pick up the empty brass, you just bend over and pick it up. I shoot bullseye pistol and use a net on a stand. They make them for rifle too. I don't use this particular brand, but it looks good: The REAL Hands Free Universal Brass Catcher in AmmoCan

I have a brass wizard which is probably the same thing. Works great on concrete, hard soil and low cut grass but not good on gravel. Never thought of using it on those darned pesky acorns!

They are pretty cool.I had a thread on them.

I made one like BE Mike posted out of a old fish landing net, My wife sewed a heavier gauge netting into for me. works great.

I saw a guy using that at the range. Seemed to work pretty good. Don't know what size he had, but it picked up 9mm with no problem. About 90% effective. But I already carry enough **** to the line, so I don't need any extras.

I don't think I could train my handguns to hit "net only" with that Brass Catcher net thingie.
