Default primer question

This might sound foolish to ask but I don't know it all.I have some Winchester primers that have WLP . on the box it sayes large pistol or magnum.
I am not a Winchester user I know that my old reliable CCI had both standard and magnum I am confused are they compatable for the 45 acp? thanks BDM

Yes, they will work great in 45 ACP. Winchester has slightly different marketing on their primers, they don't do a "match" variant and all of their primers are generally hotter than other offerings. I suppose for large pistol they did testing and found one level of brisance would work equally for standard or magnum loads.

Thumbs up

Been using WLP primers in my big bores , mild to wild , specials to magnums , for years with excellent results and have no reason or desire to switch.

+2. I've lost count of how many WLP primers I've loaded in .45 Colt and .44 Magnum, everything from .45 Colt cowboy loads to .44 Mag hunting loads. Great primers!

Been using WLP's in 45acp for years . I shoot Bullseye & go through a ton of 45acp a year . Winchester primers are hotter than other brands probably because all Winchester pistol powders are ball powder .

I'm a huge CCI fan but because the Winchester LP primers work so well with both standard and Magnum loads that's what I buy. My other primers are still CCI, just not the LP primers.
