Default Best price on Hornady LNL-AP?

I have been up in the air between getting the Dillon 650 or the LNL-AP. I'm pretty sure that I'm going with the Hornady press. Right now, Natchez has the LNL-AP for $390 and free shipping. The shell plates are also on sale...$28.49, for a $1.50 savings. Does anyone know of a better price? I have used Natchez before and have always been happy. But, money talks and If I can get a better deal, I'll have to go that way.

Thanks.

I bought most of my reloading equipment from them. They are usually cheaper than Midways sale prices.

Free shipping?

Free 500 bullets?

Just got a Graf & Sons flyer yesterday.
They have the Hornady LNL Progressive Press on a phone order special only ..for $399.00
Includes a set of dies (do you normally get a set with this press?),,limited list of 6 choices, and the 500 free bullets (that's a redemption form type of thing you have to go through Hornadys website to get your money back on).
Grafs normal $6.95 shipping/insurance fee on phone orders applies I assume.

FWIW

Just called Midway. They will not honor the price on a back order. I should have ordered 6 hours ago, then I would have got it. Darn, Tom.

Cabella's has the press on sale for $359 with free shipping as of yesterday.
If I go with the LNL, I'll pick it up from them. I say IF, because there were a ton of mediocre to bad reviews on the LNL at the Midway site. I know, you can't believe everything that you read...but it slowed down my decision for the time being..

Don't believe everything you read in the reviews. Lots of them are old reviews, and involve things which have been changed/remedied in later machines (with retrofits available for most of the older L-n-Ls). Hornady makes a great press, and stand behind them as well as Dillon. I am running an old Pro-Jector (the forerunner of the L-n-L), and it just keeps on ticking. The L-n-L has gone through several iterations, with ongoing improvements in many areas, and the current presses are really fantastic. Although I don't really need one, I am thinking of buying a new L-n-L for loading different calibers, partly due to the ease of caliber change-over with it, and keeping my old Pro-Jector set up as a dedicated single caliber press (probably for .45 ACP or .38/357). Yeah, that's a good justification for buying a new toy! BTW, consider shipping costs when ordering one of these - they are very heavily constructed, and weigh a TON! I'm betting that an on-line order with Graf & Sons, at $399 (including your choice of Hornady dies - also first rate - for a limited time), with their $4.95 flat rate handling/shipping charge, will come out ahead in total cost. One other thing - I recommend you also purchase the pistol metering rotor and the micrometer insert for same, it will make a lot of difference in your use of the press. Good luck, and enjoy!

Cabela's has free S/H right now. Don't know how long that will last though.

Thanks for these tips. I will consider them. I guess the one thing that I don't like about the progressive presses (any of them) is all of the extra "extra" stuff that you can or need to get. Reloading in general is pretty heavy on extras, but progressives start looking like starting all over. It's certainly not $350 (LNL) or $550 (Dillon) and you're good to go. Nope, keep on dishing out the cash to get running efficiently.

Check youtube for Ultimate reloader videos of how to use the LnL. His videos convinced me and they did not steer me wrong.

If you're planning using the case feeder, Cabelas has a great price on a combo kit for $670.

Go to their site and search for Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Progressive Press with Automatic Feeder

I purchased the Hornaday about 18 months ago and I wouldn't have anything else. I had a Dillion (450? ) 20yrs ago or so and The Hornaday beats that one hands down. The only Extra purchase I have on mine is the micrometer and pistol drum for the powder measure.
+1 on the You Tube vids They helped me decide also

Majority of my club's members have the "blue press" in one model or another. They're not shy about spouting the virtues of their presses.
However I have been present several times when they will quietly complain among themselves about caliber change overs and other shortcomings of their presses. I just listen and am glad I chose LNL AP.

Default LnL Single Stage Cost Breakdown

I priced the LnL Classic and all the accessories, supplies and materials I would need to load 38/357 and 45. There is a store called "Fin Fur and Feather" on I71 halfway between Columbus and Cleveland (Ashland) where I got my prices. Does this sound about right?

LnL Classic - 270
Extra set of bushings - 14
Carbide dies .45 - 44
Carbide dies .38/.357 - 44
Media tumbler - 50
Media - 16
Powder Measure Stand - 30
Shipping on 500 free (.45) bullets - 15
500 bullets .357/.38 - 60
powder - 20
primer 1000 large 30
primer 1000 small 30

Total - $623. Add Ohio tax makes it approximately $665 for the machine and materials to make my first 1000 rounds. After that, assuming my own brass, it'll cost me about $170 to $210 per thousand for plinking ammo. Not bad at all. Have I missed anything?
