Default Lyman Pistol and Revolver Manual?

How much more or less does this manual have compared to their regular Manual Vol 49?

Is there a lot more load data for lead bullets or is it pretty much the same as their regular manual.

Before the "more is better" replies, I agree to an extent but not always.I believe in diminshing returns on some things.
Between Speer, Hornady, Lee, Lymans, the online Powder companies and of course you guys, my needs are pretty much covered.

But if it really has more revolver loads then I'll go for it.

It has ALL revolver loads! And pistol loads too. That is why they named it what they did!

The best thing about it is this; its blue. The printing inside is on a soothing blue background rather than that horrid yellow/orange one of their other manuals!

Buy it for that reason alone!

I have determined not to buy another manual. I am going to keep up my yearly subscription to loaddata.com.

I have the basics down, now all I need is more data. On loaddata.com, you get all of Brian Pearce's loads from the Wolfe Publishing Magazines and it gathers all of the powder & bullet manufacturer's data too.

A virtual one stop shop!

Hope this helps!

Without going through it in detail, the 3rd edition has 86 pages of revolver/pistol loads exclusive of T/C and Encore loads. My Lyman 48th Edition manual has 53 pages of revolver/pistol loads. Both have the same size pages and type. Only you can decide if that additional data is worth it to you. If I had it to do over I probably would pass, since most all of the data is available on my bookshelf or the powder manufacturer's web sites. I do not shoot a lot of lead bullets though.

I just got the new Lyman cast Bullet Handbook 4th edition. My old 3rd edition is about wore out.

It has some different loads I had not used before such as the powders ZIP and True Blue for the .45 ACP.

If you have the full size Lyman book that was published around the same time as the Pistol and Revolver book you have all the same data. The pistol book has the same data less the rifle data.

On the other hand, the new Cast Bullet Book #4 is supposed to be a great book with new data, not just a reprint of their #3 book. I have mine on order and it should be here by the end of the week. I've read nothing but good about that book...

I only cast for Snook, Redfish and Seatrout.

But maybe when Skip sends me all that free lead and casting equipment I'll break down and buy the Lead casting book,

Heck I don't even use sinkers anymore, probably not legal anyway.Might pollute the Gulf

LOL, the Cast Bullet book isn't only for casting, it also has extensive load data for lead bullets in all calibers. I shoot a lot of lead so I can't wait for this manual to arrive!

I think the 4th Lyman manual is one of the best they have put out in years. Excellent and very well laid out.
