Default inspection of cases and bullets

WELL HERE GOES I CAN'T SAY MORE THAN INPECTION OF YOUR RELOADING TOOLS CASES BULLETS AND YOUR EQUIPMENT. IF YOU LOAD ONE AT A TIME THAT IS A GOOD TIME TO INSPECT YOUR CASES YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO MUCH.I HAVE BEEN LOADING SINCE 1968 AND THATS WHAT I DO EVEN WITH THE HORNADY AP THAT I NOW USE I INSPECT CONSTANTLY. WHEN IN DOUBT THROUGH IT OUT AND BRAKE IT DOWN LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING. WEIGHT YOUR POWDER TWICE I USE 2 DIFFERENT SCALES AND PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANYONE'S WORD ABOUT THE DIAMETER OF THE BULLET PUT A SET OF MICS ON IT TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE MICS BUY A SET YOUR SAFETY AND THE WELLBEING OF THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU IS CRITICAL. THANKS BDM

Yes, you can never be too careful. Get into a routine of inspecting your brass and constantly check that your powder measure is constantly throwing the right charge.

PS: Please be sure to have your Cap lock button off, as messages all in capital letters are hard to read and usually indicate you are YELLING! I know you are not.

Default Inspection of cases & bullets

Sgt Preston here...I inspect each & every piece of brass after cleaning & before reloading. I look inside of the case, I check for splits & I look for loose primers or "smashed" logos = too much pressure. While I'm reloading, I constantly check my powder drop weight & the overall length with a pair of dial calipers & make sure the rounds fit into my case gage. I also measure the case diameter at the edge of the bullet after crimping. Later when I move the finished ammo into bullet cases, I look at the bottoms of the bullets to make sure the primers are fully seated & test each round in my drop in bullet gage. I never have a problem on the range. I'm not the fastest reloader, but it's worth the effort. To be honest, I've never measured a bullet. I've weighed a few bullets & found them to be + or - 1 grain or so. Hope this helps.
