Inspection of cases & bullets
Sgt Preston here...I inspect each & every piece of brass after cleaning & before reloading. I look inside of the case, I check for splits & I look for loose primers or "smashed" logos = too much pressure. While I'm reloading, I constantly check my powder drop weight & the overall length with a pair of dial calipers & make sure the rounds fit into my case gage. I also measure the case diameter at the edge of the bullet after crimping. Later when I move the finished ammo into bullet cases, I look at the bottoms of the bullets to make sure the primers are fully seated & test each round in my drop in bullet gage. I never have a problem on the range. I'm not the fastest reloader, but it's worth the effort. To be honest, I've never measured a bullet. I've weighed a few bullets & found them to be + or - 1 grain or so. Hope this helps.
