Default Best .40 bullet

Need to put a few boxes of bullets away for a rainy day, what weight bullet do most people feel is best for all around use in a .40 S&W. Looking for a bullet weight that will make the most use of the limited powder supply. Been thinking along the lines of the 155gr XTP, what do you guys think?

XTP is a great bullet, if you want to spend the extra $$$ for them compared to plated or FMJ. I prefer 150/155 gr bullets, but you will find plenty who prefer 180. Both do the job.

I'm looking for a bullet that will open up with the speeds that a .40 will do.From finishing off a deer to maybe having too be used for self defense.

I think the 165's offer the best compromise between speed, expansion and penetration. The XTP's and the Gold Dots would be my choice for just about anything.
