Default >41 Mag Reload data

I have some Barnes 180 gr XPB bullets. Trouble finding reload data. I use 2400 or H110 for mag. I would like some defense loads, not real hot but effective.

The .41 mag is new (all .357's). What an up hill battle to get material and data, but, love the gun M 57 Mountain Gun.

Thanks in advance

Would suggest you get hold of a copy of the new Barnes #4 manual. I just glanced at one in a gun store this week and they had loads in there for the .41. Or just give Barnes a call and they may give some loads over the phone..

If you are looking for a mid-range load for the 180 for SD purposes I would go to a faster burning powder... H110 is for full magnum loads and will get the 180 up in the 1300s with no problem. 2400 is a little faster but again if you don't use fairly warm loads it leaves a lot of unburned powder behind.

Would suggest you try Unique or SR4756. If you want the bullet to run about 1200 work up to 9-11 grains of Unique or 11-13 grains of SR4756.

From a 4" barrel 13 grains of SR4756 run 200-220 grain bullets in the 1250+- range depending on the bullet type and weight. It is the same velocity as most factory 210s from a 4".

The Federal 180 Barnes factory load is 1310 from a 4" 57. Winchester 175 Silvertip ammo runs low 1200s and the CorBon 170 mid-1200s from a 4".
