Default On the lighter side of reloading...

I was making some coyboy action bullets last weekend. 140 gr lead in 38 spcl cases with Viht Tin Star powder.
My grand daughter came by and wanted to help me. She loves helping her grandpa make bullets. (Sizing, seating or crimping is what I allow her to do under close supervision.) After we were done making fifty I realized something... I told her we couldn't call these coyboy bullets anymore. They were cowgirl bullets since she made them. What a smile and laughter I saw and heard as she ran back into the house.

Sorry this did not contain any actual reloading info. If the admin moves this thread this it won't hurt my feelings.

Never mind. My original post was entered on the misunderstand that your were making bullets.
I understand on re-reading your post you were loading ammunition, not making bullets, with your granddaughter. Sharing all aspects of firearms hobby is most enjoyable with children & grandchildren. My daughter was quite good with a .45 revolver at age 10. She / we enjoyed teaching her daughter / my granddaughter to shoot a Savage bolt action pistol at age 4. Pure joy.
Have fun, enjoy. Great to pass on our hobby. Wishing you the best.

Hope the two of you get to go shoot those "Girl bullets" some day, also !!
That would really be putting the "Cream on top of the pudding" !!

I finally have a grandson shooting his 9mm loads and his mother that is just starting, my 38 spl. reloads.

Great post........

I did the same thing with my niece (my sister's daughter) when I would babysit her about 25 years ago. I made a video if it one one occasion (very early video camera). She still talks about that when we visit, and still has the video. I took her fishing a lot, and to gun shows too.

Those were good times that neither one of us will forget.

Enjoy them when you can, and make the most of it...for THEM above of all.

There was a 4-H group that shot with our SASS club and in that group was a little girl (2nd grade) that was a joy to watch. Her brother and cousins also shot in this club, so we had a number of young shooters. They had no bad habits and Lightning quick reflexes and as they grew they got good. That little girl is a national girls and national women's Champion. Her brother, was a national boy's Champion. At one time 3 of the top 5 boys in the nation competed with (not against) each other in our club. They pushed each other to do better, and better, and better. If any of those 4 youth were there, you knew where the top ribbons were going. These are all adults now and still fine people. One of the previous nationally top girl shooters, was quite a snot. It is a pleasure to see young shooters stick with it long enough to get good. Ivan

Forty years or so ago in the fall after I had finished a looong summers work my daughter (eight or ten at the time) and I would sneak off one day during the week (from school and work) to go to Oklahoma City and tour the gun shops. They had lots of them then and it was an all day chore.
She ended up thirty years later being the office manager for the construction and opening of a new gun store/range.
Don't know if she remembers those days but I do.

Viht Tin Star sounds like a Chinese powder.
Then, I realized you're talking about Vihtavuori Tin Star powder.
Duh.

This ABSOLUTELY belongs in the reloading forum. There is much more to handloading than The final product and it's various components.
