Default Your experience would be very appreciated to cast for my old girls

I must say iam a little overwhelmed. I decided to cast bullets for my 455 Webley, and 455 Smith. Before i did anything i went out looking for wheel weights. After 2 or 3 hours i had 500 lbs of them. From my reading, older lyman manual the hardness of weights is about 9, and softer for the stick ons and can i add the stickons a little to each batch.
Are weights ok without adding anything, to harden or soften ?
I got the smelting down ok, wax, temp, zink issues. I have a million questions, do i need to slug my barrels to get bore diameter, are gas checks nessessary, .? The mould i am trying to get are the RBCS 265 GN RN HB . Apparently this was the original bullet size, and i want to do the old girls justice, not just pull the trigger and wait for the bang. Thats it for now , don't want to chew your ears to much. Thanks for the Cap info.

Good for you! Casting is enjoyable. Especially if you have a hectic day job. It slows you down, makes you think a bit, follow procedures.

Wheel weights are just fine. With the revolvers, bore diameter is of second concern. Check throat sizes first. If you can get bullets that fit them, you most likely will be fine.

At the velocity that those calibers are usually loaded to, you aren't going to have a problem with alloy. Size is the determining factor.

How will you lube your bullets? Are you going to shoot as cast or size them?

The caps thing is a non-issue, we all learn things from time to time. Don't sweat it, friend!
