Default need decapping pin

Broke the pin in my 40 year old Lyman 38/357 carbide resizing die. Anyone know where I can find a new one? Tried Brownells,Sinclair & Lyman (they want to sell complete rod). Tedog

I'd get an appropriate diameter twist drill and cut the shank to size if other maker decaping pins won't fit.

I make mine out of finishing nails. Chuck in a drill and turn down with a file. Have made a dozen or so replacements over the years.

I got a 9MM case stuck in a 44 case a while back. Broke the decapping pin and twisted the stem like a pretzel. I called RCBS to order a new one and mine were so old they weren't sure which one I had. They sent the two stems they thought would work and a lifetime supply of pins. No charge............ great customer service from RCBS!

Many years ago an old reloader told me he used the bearings out of a Universal joint for decapping pins. I "miked" some and they are the right size and very hard to boot.

That's what Lee makes theirs out of, some roller bearings.

Try Midway USA, I think I saw those on their website when I broke the decapping pin in my Universal decapping die.

If it's the pin for a standard Lyman die, I have some. Pin Diameter .060", has a larger "head" on the pin end, (.109") and OAl is .545".

If that will work, PM me and I'll send you one. I bought a pkg of them at my LGS last fall.

What H Richard said.
If they are the ones with the head on them, I have several. Broke one and got a couple of packs from Midway. Then replaced my Lyman dies with Lee.
PM me if you end up needing some.

Don't know why you would replace your Lyman dies, I've been using a set of .38, and .44 mag Lyman dies (first sets I ever bought) for over 30 years and they are still going strong. How can you wear out carbide dies?

You can't wear them out. I bought these about 1968 when the latest, greatest, and most expensive thing going was carbide dies. They even had a gold top on the sizing die to distinguish it from ORDINARY dies!!
During the past year I have acquired a Lee Classic Turret, then the Lee 4 die sets for my handgun calibers. I noticed yesterday that I have only screwed the 357 set loosely in the turret, so I haven't used them yet.
