Power Pistol in 9mm, Hornady data VS Speer?
I just picked up some PP for loading 40 SW. I am trying it in 9mm.
I notice a big difference in load values between Speer 14 and the new Hornady #8
For a 124gr FMJ RN Speer lists 5.6 to 6.4gr 1.135
Hornady lists 4.3 to 5.7gr for the same weight shape bullet 1.150
Alliant only list for the 124 GDHP at a max of 6.4. 1.120
I put 6.4 grs in a empty case and to me it would be a compressed charge (or almost) when a bullet is seated.
After shooting this powder in the 40 SW it is a flash , bang, LOUD powder. I can not imagine what 6.4 grs in a 9mm would be??
What are powder charges are you all using??

Been loading 124FMJ with 6.2g of Power pistol. Seem pretty stout, not seeing any pressure signs, haven't chrono them. Accurate. 1.125 OAL. The cases are pretty full, close to being compressed. Was thinking seems to be a pretty heavy charge considering I use 6.7g behind a 180g FMJ in .40. They got some bite out of the M&P. Have to take into account the pyrotechnic display of P.P. I need to take the chrono to the range.

That's what thought also. I loaded some 180 gr 40 SW with 7.0 gr PP(just below max of (7.1/7.2) and they were loud even at a outside range.
Think I will go with 5.5 to start with the 124 9mm.

I load 6.2 grains of Power Pistol with a 115 gr. FMJ Hornady bullet. It gives me 1240 fps out of my Beretta.

big loads for PP........I run 4.6 in my 124g 9MM and 5.8 in my 180g 40s plenty of snap...for shooting paper and targets I always go to the lower end of the scales personally
Like PP allot, puts on a real muzzle blast show indoors

I think so also. As mentioned I ran 7.0 grs in the 180, 40 SW and that "seemed" like a lot. I did not Chrono them. If it stops raining today, I may be able to try these 9mm I loaded at 5.5.

One of the things I particularly like about PP is that I can load it down and still have good accuracy.

Speer and the new Hornady list 7.1 and 7.2 as max. Yes it was zippy and loud but perceived/felt recoil was not mad at all. I shot the 7.0 gr 180 loads out of a FNX 40. I don't think I would make a steady practice of it in that gun as it seemed to slam the slide a bit. I'll try them in the HK USP compact it has a buffer
Power Pistol and the 40 SW

No problem I shot some 124 gr 9mm FMJ with 5.2 grs PP. It worked fine and dropped the 40 SW loads to 6.0 grs which is good.
