Question for WST users
I bought two cans of WST, and the cans looked like they were sitting on the shelf for quite a while (they were covered in dust).
I never used a powder the color of WST, and I've been reloading for 40 years. It is a very light gray color (the color of cigarette ash) and I'm not sure this is normal? I'm hoping it's ok. It smells good, can anyone verify the color? Thanks.

I really like WST for my 230 FMJ target loads. It is very bulky besides being light gray in color. Also works good with 240 SWC target 44 mag/spl loads and many more. It's a good powder.

My favorite powder for the 387 and 45ACP, I've burned through several kegs of it, at about 15,000 rounds per keg. It burns so clean that my practice load, which uses WST and a plated bullet, often shows little or no residue after firing 100 rounds. I clean my duty gun about once every thousand rounds, sometimes more, and it rarely actually needs it, it just gets kind of sticky and sluggish to operate. It meters VERY well in my measures, and has a natural slickness that makes it easy to work with. I love it!

Totally normal. WST is my favorite 45acp powder for any bullet wt/style @ all std pressrue levels. I will often shot up to 600rds of lead ammo before cleaning my 1911.

I'd be interested in knowing what your WST 44 Spl target loads are.

I like the light grey color of WST. I visually inspect each case for powder drop on my Dillon 550 and the grey WST is much easier to see than most other powders.

Dude, the BEST thing about WST is the SMELL that you get when it goes off! Totally COOL! Hard to explain it but, it is notable to the senses!
Clean burning, good accuracy, economical. Just don't try to build a magnum load with it. Target only type of loads.
p.s. The smell is very similar to Trail Boss when it burns.

HA! Some say it's "peppery", but I don't really notice. Maybe I shoot too much of it & it has just become a normal smell?

5.3 gr of WST behind a 200 gr cast SWC (H&G68) in the 45 ACP. Accurate, full power, and clean.

I'll say, very full power. With 5gr under the same bullet, I am getting 900fps+ in a 5"gun. You are certainly pushing the +P limt going above that. From the Hogdon site:
200 GR. CAST LSWC Winchester WST .451" 1.225" 4.4 830 15,400 CUP 5.1 910 19,900 CUP
