Broke My Dillon 550!
After 28 years, the damn thing broke!
The plate that's attached to the ramrod at the first (size/deprime) position. It's got the spent primer collector on the underside and a roller that operates the primer bar.
Broke right at the bolts that hold it to the ramrod.
I had my friend over and we were set to load up some 44Spl Snappers and some 230g .45acp ball. First round - snap!
All was not lost, if I worked the primer bar by hand, it was doable.
I just had to be OK with spent primers all over the garage floor.
We loaded up 100 of each, slower than normal, but just as good at the end.
I'll call Dillon tomorrow and if I don't miss my guess, they won't let me pay for the new part, but I'll try.
Best company I've ever dealt with. Top Gun ain't bad either BTW.
Customer service is always appreciated.

Yeah, let me know how that "pay for it" thing goes!
hahahahahahaha GO BLUE!
I might as well do it here as somewhere else: I have to apologize to the millions of RL550B users out there. I said, and on more than one occasion, that I would NEVER have an RL550 in my house. I didn't want a press that had manual indexing while having the other operations automatic. It just seemed to be a recipe for disaster. Well, I got an RL450B, it had manual everything, primer advance and powder drop, and I got two upgrades for it. Now, other than getting a new frame so I can have the quick change feature, it is a 550. I am using it for one caliber and one caliber only, 44Mag. With the amount of powder that I am using, and the case fill that it has, if I do forget to advance the press by hand, I have a serious mess on my hands and there is no way to get a bullet on the case. So, to those that may have been offended at my comments, please, accept my humble apology!

Just got off the phone with Mike at Dillon.
After I offered my inadequate description of the part, based on trying to read the name on the exploded view of my press at the Dillon site, he was able to accurately provide the correct part number.
14280 - Roller Bracket Assy.
He said they'd ship it right out.
I asked what I owed him.
He told me - nothing!
I replied that I felt guilty and surely I could pay for the part.
He said they were still an American company and that's the way they do things. He did offer that I could send him one million in small, unmarked bills.
My kind of guy! Honorable and a sense of humor!
So, if you know anyone looking to buy a press, send out the word...
If you don't buy a Dillon, you are making a large error.
All presses work, but the difference is the support.
No one matches Dillon in that dept!

Just couldn't convince them to send me a new Mini-Gun free of charge though!

arms,
Oh, seeing the blue light, sounds like something they used to say at Kmart, happened a long time ago!
I have 3 Square Deal B presses, 2 XL650's and now the RL450B with a few enhancements. I just said I would never have an RL550 because of the manual advance feature. So, that is the part I am "repenting" about!
