Dillon gets the most love here and most everywhere else followed up by Hornady. But for all the talk about RCBS, the Rock Chucker get talk while I can only find one real post talking about the Pro 2000. If anyone even asks about progressive it’s all either Dillon, Hornady, and even Lee gets more talk than the Pro 2000 despite Lee getting the most trash talk. And we all know that RCBS has the same lifetime coverage that both Dillon and Hornady share. I guess Dillon may have the more overboard coverage with their “No BS” claim, but RCBS seems just as no questions asked. And yet for a forum that has quite a few reloaders there is next to no talk about RCBS’s offering. I don’t care for the APS strips for priming but it does seem like a safe idea. And the loader for it seems at a glance to be pretty fast. The tool head design isn’t that different than what Dillon is using. Why no love for team green on this one???

I have been wondering the same thing? I do have a friend that has one and he likes it just fine. I will have to quiz him what he thinks about the primer strips.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the green stuff. Many of the blue lovers are just along for the ride.

I have some RCBS accessories. Trimmer, Powder Measure, priming tool, dies. It's all first class.

The powder measure was given to me(it's old) and the little plastic tips had dry rotten. Called them up and 3 days later had new ones.

My RCBS "mistake" Hammer" broke. Same thing. So their warranty is no BS also.

A friend has the press and it is built! I would not hesitate to get one.

When my RCBS universal primer arm gave up the ghost after 30 years of service on my Rock Chucker I call RCBS to order a new one. They quickly sent me a revised universal primer arm at no cost. Now that kind of service is hard to beat and I will remain a loyal RCBS customer. John

Please don't anyone think I'm bashing RCBS on this. I have two of their presses and use them both. I use my Rock Chucker for most of my rifle loads and I use the Pardner press for universal depriming duties. I enjoy them both and plan on using them for a long time. I got my Pardner press free from my cousin but she had lost the primer catch cup. I called RCBS and asked about ordering one. I explained that I got it as is and they refused to allow me to pay for the darn thing. I don't like getting something for nothing but it was pretty nice.

I'm just curious why there is little to no talk about use of the Pro 2000 since most of what RCBS makes is pretty decent stuff. Is there a reason people stay away from it? It can't be price or no one would buy Dillon. So what gives???

My wife bought me a starter kit by RCBS in 1978. Rock Chucker, scale, 38/357 dies etc. Always thought about a progressive but was a poor GI, raising a family, and never had the money. Now I have one foot on a skate and the other on a banana peel heading for the 7-0 and just don't shoot that much anymore.

I don't need a progressive, but they are nice. Too much money.

I have had a Pro 2000 for 6-7 years now. It works just fine. I have had no issues at all. Much better buy at the time I bought mine that the Dillion I thought.

I am just getting into reloading and have done a lot of research on the different makers. I took the little mag that Dillon puts out, I think you get a year for free. No doubt their products are outstanding.

Hornaday seemed difficult to get a lot of information on, maybe I didn't try hard enough.

In the end I went with RCBS mainly because of customer service. They answered ever question promptly and then discovered a local guy who was a dealer. Turned out, that did not work out as he could not match or get close to the price by Cabelas.

Probably in the end there is not a lot of difference in manufactures, kinda like Ford and Chevy, you still get were you want to go, maybe in different styles.

But paint me green, I like the product.

I have now loaded just shy of 300,000 rounds on mine. Is it perfect? No. Is it darn good, yes!

The press is big, heavy and well made. It is easy to make great ammo. If you put the powder dispenser on station 2 with an expander die, then you can put powder check on 3 and have two stations for seat and crimp. This is what I do.

To me the key advantage is cheap changes of caliber, uniflow powder measure with micrometer settings, and especially the APS strips. I have yet to read or hear about an APS stripped primer going "boom". You cannot say that about primers in the tube.

The Blue and Red boys will tell you otherwise, but ask them how many rounds they have loaded and then weight what they say. Once you do a quarter million rounds on a machine you figure out how to make it work well. If I did not like my press I would have replaced it a few hundred thousand rounds ago.

More than 130,000 rounds loaded and 9yrs of use, I am sure it is the easiest, most user-frendly progressive out there, having tryed the red and blue machines. I really didn`t like the primer tube thing. The PRO 2000 is really a great press and way under-rated.

I like my Pro 2000. I picked it over a Dillon 550 because of price, and I was able to use the powder check die. RCBS has the best customer service.

Ditto.......I sold a Dillon 650xl with case feeder and all the bells and whistles to get my RCBS Pro 2000.....I like it a lot better....and much cheaper and faster to change calibers. I also use a Rock Chucker for rifle and high power pistol and a Redding T-7 for BPCR cartridges.

I've been using RCBS since the late 60's when I got my Rockchucker from my Uncle for Christmas. It still performs exactly like it did when new and is used weekly.
I got my 2000 when they first came on the market and mine has around the 3 to 400,000 round count and is still going strong. Once I learned how to use the APS primer system correctly it ran like a charm, much safer and faster than the tubes.
I recently helped a friend mount his Dillon and was surprised to find that it is aluminum. It felt cheap and lightweight but I guess they must work okay based on the number of people that have them but I prefer the feel and heft of some cast iron.....

My LNL AP is cast aluminum and runs like a top. But I whole heartedly agree that I vastly prefer the feel of the cast iron. That may be the biggest reason I like loading on my RC still. That thing is just solid!!!

I have both a Dillon XL650 and an RCBS Pro 2000. I have had the Pro 2000 for about 10 years and have no idea how many thousands of rounds it has loaded, but it is a bunch. I reload for several cartridges and I use the Pro 2000 most of the time because it is much eaisier and faster to change calibers on the Pro 2000 than the XL650. I only use the XL650 when I know I am going to be reloading a lot of a particular caliber. I have never had any problems with either press. But I know that both Dillon and RCBS have excellent customer service.

I've always been partial to green, first rockchucker then the finiky piggyback ii, still using it and running smoothly after some fine-tuning and addressing the powder drop with their linkage kit.

Never been comfortable with primer tubes, at least the blue and red have adopted blast shields on theirs, the rcbs primer strips are likely the safest system developed yet, when the time comes and I need more volume, I would likely go Pro2000

RCBS service couldn't be better, they've sent me n/c parts on many occasions, no questions asked.
