Default Jae-Bok 420 grain hard cast in my 460V

Hey guys,

I am very new to reloading and have started with my 45-70 Marlin SBL and my S&W 460V...

I am here to talk about the 460 because unlike the 45-70 there seems to be very little data on reloading it.

First, I am very hesitant to post any of the data I have come up with because of my inexperience in reloading, but I will share some info and experience.

I am really interested in loading this gun heavy as I already know of its capability's light and fast. So I purchased some 420g hard cast bullets from Jae-Bok. I was already using his 550g Craters and 420g Crater lights for my 45-70 and was more than impressed with the quality of these bullets.

when I started searching for load data for 420 grain bullets for the 460 I came up with nothing, so I have been guessing a little using data I found for other weights 360,395, even found data for 500 grains! although most of this data was used in the 8.5 inch XVR or the 10 inch hunter.

So after allot of research I came up with what I believed to be rough min and max loads for my application.
Even though I read allot about Lil'Gun Powder damaging revolvers, there seems to be no real hard evidence of this so I settled on using this powder anyway due to allot of data showing good results.

I loaded up min and max and 1/4 grain increments in between and headed of to my local range which is rarely used during the week so I had the place to myself. I have to say that the first shot I took using my min load was quite nerv racking due to my inexperience in the reloading department...

needless to say I survived my day at the range, and not only had fun but was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy and great amount of recoil (I like big recoil) that my loads produced.

A note on the heavy recoil; I was using a non ported compensator cap which does increase felt recoil somewhat (although not as much as some made me believe it would)...

So if anyone has any wisdom or questions for me I would like to hear some feedback from anyone interested.
