Default s&w 627-5pc accuracy

i can get 1 1/8 inch group at 25 yds shooting lee 105 gn. swc over 3.3 tightgroup in 357 but the swc dont work well with moon clips. i want to use the lee 150 rnl but the best i get is 2 inch and over trying to stay below 900 fps using , be, tight gp, hp-38 and universal.
what size gps should i expect to get with this gun at 25 yds and does anyone have a favorite load for the 150 rnl? thanks

One of my very favorite handguns, that exact model. I've never shot that 105 g weight slug, and I don't like SWC with moon clips either.

I've used the 158 RN from Sundance in Colorado, and tend to favor HP38. Titegroup does well for me too. My ICORE and speed steel load is a 130 g cast conical flat nose also from Sundance. They load very easy compared to the SWC, and far easier in 38 special cases. The longer mags flop around too much going into the cylinders.

I like the 900fps range as well.

If I use any bench rest at all, at the typical speed steel distances 10-20 yards, the 130 load will cluster nicely around 1" for as long as I want to do it. Standing free hand I wobble a bit and would have trouble meeting let along beating your groups.

For the ICORE events this revolvers is way more accurate than you need. I don't do much beyond 25 yards except a little plinking, but my eyes are haywire enough pending cataract surgery that I tend to avoid too much challenge. I like to hear the steel sing to me.

ill keep experimenting with loads for the 150 rn and hope to get it into the 11/2 inch range at least.

m657. the 627 is becoming my favorite gun to shoot and reload for. one plus is it holds 8 rounds and i dont have to spend time looking for the brass.
my eyes are 67 years old and i found that the red dot makes getting on target faster and easier but it dont help shakey hands.

our eyes could have been in the same incubator....while I have gone to red dot sights on some guns (to good effect) I wanted to keep iron sights on some of them.

I switched the front sight to a red fiber tube, with a Top Gun fiber optic rear. Helped accuracy considerably as now I can see the front sight.

I've got cataract surgery on stand by as well. Had the retinal laser blasts over the last 15 years or would have been blind by now instead of just having big holes to adapt to.

On a par with 'most favorite' revolver is a 3 7/16 m610 that fits my hand very well, as do the upgraded sights.

Personally I continue to get more accurate and more smooth in match competition... scores and times improve, but I don't more very fast in any case.
