Default 44 mag 300 grain Load Data Wanted

Hi Guys
Wanted some load data for the 4 mag. I'm planning to go on a hog hunt and I'm looking for some load data. I plan on using a Smith & Wesson model 29-2 with a 6 1/2 barrel, and use Hornady 300 grain HTP JHP bullets with 2400 powder. I want a load that is not to hot for the Model 29, but would give me good performance to take care of a big hog.
Thanks for any advice.

Not the same components but I use a Cast Performance gas check 300 gr. WFNGC with 10 Gr. of HS-6 and Winchester primers.

Very accurate and devastating.

Alliants factory data shows a Speer bullet (of course). You can try it, or get a copy of Hornadys manual if you want an exact match.

never cared for the 300G XTP and even deemed it wasteful
your honestly better off with a good cast 300 or 310 grain.

With the 29-2, I would opt for a 250 grain cast...a Keith SWC would do nicely. Back that up with 18.0 grains of 2400 and slay them piggies.

From an old magazine article by Ross Seyfried on safe but powerfull
loads for the S&W 29. A 250 gr cast Keith SWC over 23.0 grs of W296.
Clocks an even 1200 fps in my 4" 29-2. For the few rounds likely to be
fired at game it offers good power at a bit less than max pressure.

Default 300 Grain

I will not give the load I use here but I have used the 300 grain Hornady XTP in my Ruger SRH for years and never had one to fail on hogs, deer, or elk. It will do the job!!!!!!!!!!

My load is a cast 310 grain bullet from a Lee mold, gas checked and sized at .430". Powder charge is 13.0 grains of 2400, which is slightly under the maximum listed in the Lee manual. Standard large pistol primers. This load should drop almost anything you care to hunt.

In my 12" Thompson contender the velocity is 1102 fps, and it shoots 4" groups at 100 yards. That is with a 2x scope, and I know I could do better with a scope of higher magnification.

The same load fired in my 3" Model 629-8 clocks at 835 fps and is actually painful to shoot (YMMV). A couple of cylinders full were enough for me.
