Default Favorite lead bullets for 41Mag and 44Mag

I'm looking for cheap plinking bullets for 41 and 44Mags. I've looked at a few of the more common sources and don't see a lot of variety (even for the 44). I'm interested what commercially-available, cheaper lead bullets people are using for these two cartridges.

The 41 is ported and titanium; I know heavy, 250gr GC hardcasts will stay put in the crimp as I've tried them...but they are relatively expensive...I am not sure soft lead would stay put or if it would stream lead through the ports but I'm willing to try some.

The cheapest cast lead bullets I have been able to find are from Vance bullets located in Ohio, they are good quality and accurate as I am. The ones I use for 41 and 44 are the SWC 210 grain in 41 and the SWC 240 in 44.
Another source I have been looking at is Rim Rock Bullets. They have what appears to be a true Keith type SWC for both 41 and 44 that has an attractive price. I haven't tried these yet but I think I will when I need bullets again.

Missouri Bullet Company is very popular. I have bought from them and there prices seem to be right. I'm personally a fan of Mid-Atlantic Bullets for the .41 LSWC.

Spaniel
Whatever manufacturer you get your bullets from make sure to get bullets with flat base design if you plan on loading 41 or 44 mag. to over about 900fps. I have not had great success trying to push bevel-base bullets faster than that.

I have used cast bullets from Valiant Cast Bullets, P. O. Box 696 , Bynum, AL. 36253 and been very pleased with them.

I bought mine at a local gun show avoiding any shipping charges, the cost for 500 was very reasonable. Midway might sell them , I know I've seen them advertised somewhere but postage might be prohibitive.

I've used Dardas and Carolina Cast Bullets in my .41's, good results. Heard good things about Oregon Trail, I think it is, laser cast.

At less than each, how can you lose?

There is a caster that sells to a local gun store here. SNS Casters. Do a websearch and see what turns up!

Other than those, it's mine all the way baby!

Default Colorado Cast Bullets

FYI. I get my cast bullets from Colorado Cast Bullets in Montrose, Co. The owner of the range, San Juan Gun Club, casts them in house primarily for the range users. The range is a large one, with 18 individual small ranges set up for various events, which run year around. It hosts major events, like the Sass Championship, and until last year, the American Hangunner annual championship. It also has monthly Sass, ISPC, IPSC, and other matches, which is why they cast in house. As a result, his prices are reasonable in that he makes bullets for the club members and competitors, and it is not his primary and only form of income. Owner, Paul Miller, casts rifle bullets as well. I like not only the prices, but his choice of cast bullet designs. His 38's are Keith type 158 SWC (and others), 44's are Keith type 429421, and the best 45 acp available, IMO, the H&G 68 200 grain SWC. He offers other bullet designs and weights, those are just my preferences. Quality casts in all calibers. Just thought I would mention it as an alternative to other companies listed here. He ships everywhere.

I like the Oregon Trail Laser Cast bullets. They are available
in a variety of diameters which is cool.
