I'm looking at loading some rounds for my Sport using a range of bullet weights between 60-75 grains. I have all the tools to make my measurements and do not load with the bullet touching the rifling/lands. There is so much free bore that a lighter bullet won't come close to touching the rifling.
Any favorite recipes?
I'll be using a "sled" for the single rounds to chamber.

I have a load that I use for my DPMS with a 20", 1:9" twist that will shoot sub MOA as long as I want to.

Sierra 69gr HPBT with a load of Varget underneath it.

Don't have all of the data with me right now but it is a great shooter and doesn't need to be fed one at a time either!

I have a 52 gr. sierra bthp load that will shoot sub-MOA
as well out of my Shilen uppered AR-15 A-2. Give me a little
time to run to the basement and i'll add it here.

I just happened to buy a box of the Sierras 69gr yesterday. One question I didn't ask is this: Is it necessary to f/l resize the once fired brass from my rifle since I'm going to hand feed it? No problem one way or the other. I have a fine shooting Rem. 700 PSS that I load for that I just size the neck. Sub-MOA all day long.
I do realize that there are factors that make my little friend not a BR gun but it's fun to try!

The AR is not a bolt gun and you don't have anywhere near the camming force needed to chamber neck sized brass.

I load the 52gr. Sierra MK for the short line with 25gr. H335. They are cheaper than the 69gr. and work just as well until you get on the other side of 200 yards.

This info is what I use to make my decisions. I wondered if the round would fully chamber with the bolt coming into battery. I definitely don't want to take a chance with an OOB discharge.

I'm kinda anal about my handloads for my AR.
I full lenghth re-size all, chamfer necks and primer
pockets. And use benchrest primers. Oh, and when wanting to
shoot for real tight groups i also weigh bullets and brass
individually for uniformity. But not for everyday burning ammo\or prairie dog loads. I shoot alot of 335 powder as well as 748.

I don't know how you neck size, but if you neck size with a FL die backed off, the shoulder will actually move forward (longer) when you size. I FL size everything going into AR's, but no need to get crazy about shoulder headspace. Just move it back 0.003 and everything will be fine.

What I found for brass not having the shoulder properly headspaced is the bolt will close but not fully. It is enough of a problem to get open that I prefer to avoid it.

Redding Comp Neck Die, 308 Win - Sinclair Intl

With my .308 this works great. You don't have to f/l re-size brass that has been fired out of the rifle you're loading for. Yes you still need to make sure it's within specs but you don't have to over-work the brass. My .308 is capable of sub-minute angles all day long.
Like I said, I do realize that I'm dealing with a different situation here so that's why I asked.

I think you are looking for powder and bullet data right ? I have had good group with rl15 24 grains to start smk77 grain bullet length to fit your magazine. Nosler is good also going to start at 23.5 grains of blc2 and see how it works.

I went to the range this morning to test some new loads for my Colt Hbar with a factory 1/7 twist barrel and sight in my scope,
The wind kicked up to over 20 MPH and since I live over 20 miles from the range I just brought the target in to 25 yards.
My theory--- If it won't group at 25 yards it is not going to group at longer distances
I was testing 3 round groups. MY best groups were shot with the following
Remington once fired brass
Winchester standard Small rifle primers
Sierra 77 Gr SMKHPBT
22 Grains of 2230
OAL length 2.20 Just fits in Mag

Best group with this load was--- .177 --Center to center
Worst group was --.210-- Center to center

I want to try this load at 100 yards and further when the wind dies down

Sorry I can't help, I don't load bullets in the weight you're looking for. My .223 "pet load" is made with a 55gr Sierra bullet.

I came across a book in my collection called "Precision Shooting" that has a section devoted to gas guns. With the info. that I've received here and what I just read, I will definitely will F/L re-size. I'm putting together a set of cartridges that weigh pretty much the same, going to individually use my B/R powder drop and I have a micrometer style bullet seater. I'm going to use the Lee FCD on say 10 rounds and not crimp the same load and compare the groupings. I'm going to dust off my ol' chronograph and measure velocity differences and the data that goes along with that.
I enjoy rolling my own even though I know that I'm reaching for the moon.
