I am thinking about adding a Hornady LNL AP to my reloading room. I will keep 45 acp, 380 acp and misc rifle calibers on my Lee Classic Turret and put 9mm and .223 on the Hornady. I have Lee pistol dies and RCBS rifle dies.

Will Lee dies work suitably on a Hornady LNL AP? Does the Hornady Powder Measure fit the Lee Powder/Expander die?

Been using lee dies in my lnl for years.

The only problem you might come across is that sometimes a die needs to be screwed into the bushing so low that there isn't enough thread to make the lock ring fit. All you need to do is to flip it over and it will tighten down just fine without the need of the O-ring. A Hornady lock ring will also work but I found that there is no need to buy one of those.

I put the Lee expander in a separate station (actually in station 3 after the powder drop and just before the seating station.

I use the hornady powder through expander and charge die. that is a real pita poor engineering on hornadies part but past that works great.

What rsrocket said... Also agree with Mr. Apathy on the Hornady expander issue. I found their caliber-specific expanders to be useless. I got a unit from powder funnels.com. It's a universal expander, and works pretty good, best solution I could find for powder through with the Hornady.

I still think that the Lee powder through expander is great, very good set up. I actually still use the Lee powder measure/PTX with a couple of calibers on my LnL, because it just works so well...

Overall, you should have no problems with Lee dies in your LnL, they work great mine...

I have not tried the Hornady press, but I use Lee dies and the Lee Pro Disc powder measure and expander die on several of my set ups on my Dillon 550's. I too have had to flip the lock ring to get the die deep enough in the tool head. I probably have 10 or more tool heads so equipped. Bob!

I just got my LnL AP after using my Projector for 21 years. Thanks for answering my question.

I bought a LnL a couple of months ago and just moved my Lee dies AND PAD from the LCT. No problems, and the PAD works just as well on the LnL as is does on the LCT. I added an RCBS Lock-out die in the third hole. When I have mastered the LnL I will set up the Hornady measure and use it for a specific caliber.

I've loaded 10's of thousands of rounds on my LNL AP using Lee dies. I have the expander die set up before the powder drop. I've never had any problems. I usually have to screw the expander die in pretty far but it works fine.

Hornady and RCBS both need to just scrap their PTX die inserts and write a fat check to the Powder Funnels guy for his. That is the single biggest upgrade to either system. And it works great for cast bullets. I tried flipping the Lee lock rings and running my .45 ACP dies for a while and I'm just tired of that. I'm going to buy a set of RCBS dies to run instead only because I prefer the carbide to Hornady's coated dies. Also, set the screws nice and tight on that powder measure as that thing seems to knock itself loose over time and will start to back out slowly but surely dropping a tiny bit more and more powder. Glad I bought that RCBS Lock Out die even if I still find it a PITA to set. Sort of wish I had tried the Powder COP die instead.
