I bought 2 boxes of loaded ammo that looks like that a few months back from small local store. It's amazing what you can find all the way in the back of the shelves of these stores!

Know what you mean. My LGS has a whole shelf of old Jay Scott grips for all sorts of guns.

You are right, you sure don't find brass like that anymore. I have about 15 full boxes of unfired brass from that era. A few boxes of nickel WW and regular brass in Federal and Remington. Nice find. Don't see any around here.

Yep , my favorite local shops are the ones with shelves , milk crates , boxes , bins and buckets of old , used , pre-owned 'stuff'.

Three weeks ago at my local "old" gun shop I found an original full box of the original Hydro Shock 158 grain lead ammo which was developed here in Watkins Glen NY. The inventor later sold the design rights and this bullet is used today in currently produced ammunition. Best part is I only paid the original price it sold for when it was first marketed. I have tucked this away with my early Model 10, which might have used this ammo.
The internet is great for our gun hobbie pursuits, but there is nothing like finding something like this just around the corner at our local friendly gun shop.

C'mon, you have to fire at least 6 of them in that old Model 10 before you put them all under glass.

Just to know how it feels...

I was in a local shop a while back and found 4 Safariland COMP III Speedloaders for $10 each. The packaging was old and fading, the speedloaders were fine. Wish he had about 10 K Frame, and 10 L Frame at that price, instead of 2 each.

I got 200 rounds of new WW- 357 Nickle plated brass for 4 bucks. And it was primed.

This turned up on the "Closeout" shelf at a local shop. Ten Bucks. It dates, as near as we can figure, to the early 60's. There is no Zip Code listed in the address, so it's apparently pre-'67. I was just gonna go shoot them up, but have been threatened with Great Bodily Harm if I do so.

Got a similar vintage box of 7mm Mauser ammo on my LGS bargain shelf. 15 live rounds , 5 once fired cases for $7.

I've made some great scores in small, out of the way shops, like a perfect, vintage box for 1930's .357 ammo, the blue and yellow Peters 'High Velocity' box, free! Also many old boxes of ammo, .30 Rem, .22 Hornet, .32 Rem, .30-40 Krag, many loose rounds of old black powder ammo for the 'bullet board'. The best by far were two original blue pebble grain boxes for 5 screw .44 Magnums, one for a 4 inch and the other for a 6 1/2", both in good condition for thier age, still had a price tag on them that reflected a 40 year old value.
Alot of places if you talk intelligently to the owner and simply ask, you'll be amazed at what is tucked back.

Got a Phd from Hard Knocks U

During the Great Ammo Drought one of my LGS dug up a bunch of NOS 70's vintage (they said) Remington 125gr SJHP .38 +P. Still had the original price tags on 'em.

ummm... I paid a bit more than '70s price for a few boxes...
