I purchased the Hornady Bench Rest Grade Powder Measure P/N 050130. I didn't know that it was really intended to reload rifle ammunition. The box says "Measurements adjust from 20 to 65 gr.". I've been using it below the minimum range. Last night, I loaded my 357 rounds with 15.6 gr. I measured every load with my Lock-N-Load Bench Scale P/N 050108. However, the thrower was very consistent +/- 0.1gr according to my Lock-N-Load Bench Scale even though it's below the stated minimum weight. I would like to make this powder thrower more "pistol (revolver) friendly". I emailed Hornandy and hve not received a reply. I searched online for an answer and could not find one. I'm trying to get a metering plunger or the whole measuring assembly that would put me closer to pistol loads. I welcome any solution. Looking back, I should have purchased the Lock-N-Load Auto charge dispenser instead.

I believe you'll need to purchase another rotor and metering assembly. Check Midway, they have them for Hornady, the item# is 050128. You may want to buy the rotor and the micrometer (metering assembly) separately as it is easier to adjust and more accurate. Good luck.

I looked at the 050128 but somewhere I read it was for the 050069 powder measure only. I think I will call Monday before I order. Thanks.

Call Hornady, they are very friendly and helpful, much better than email. They can advise you regarding the possibility of using different drums and inserts. I recommend the micrometer inserts, by the way. It is possible that the Bench Rest powder measure was developed from the old Deluxe powder measure, which has a different size drum than does the LnL measure, not interchangeable. They can tell you for sure, and you can order directly from Hornady, they have great customer service. Just remember, call them and talk to a live person.

Your powder measurer is designed for rifles. You need the pistol metering powder insert.

Years ago I bought a set (2 different inserts) of powder meters for my Hornady powder measurer. They were for making match loads with micrometer adjustments in a pistol & a rifle. These new inserts beat the generic one that was in the powder measure hands down.
