Default Coated lead bullets-Precision Bullets

Getting ready to order some more bullets to reload, started with 115gr LSWC, 9mm. Was thinking plated or jackets, came across Precision Bullets, they have a 'proprietary dry coating', similar to moly. Supposedly prevents leading, (not that I'm having a big issue with it, but...), allows more velocity, price is good, so anyone have experience with 'em? Wonder why they don't make .38 special, seems like a natural thing.

I use them in 9mm and .45 ACP. I really like them, no leading ( just be sure to bell your case mouth enough, so you don't scrape away the coating, as that can cause leading...), and I get good accuracy. The barrel bore cleans up easily (easier than dealing with copper), and I like not having to handle lead bullets.

I agree that it would be nice if they did .38/.357 bullets. I get some lead bullets from my LGS for those calibers. I recommend Precision, good quality, at a good price, and they are easy to do business with. Just my .02...

I have used a bunch of bullets from Precision And I like them a lot. I just ran out of 200 grain SWC in 45 ACP this week and will order some more. Don

I've used a ton of Precision, "black" bullets, and I think they are ok. They don't "lead" the barrel, like swaged, or cast bullets, but, they do leave moly in the barrel, and depending on what powder you put behind them, can smoke like a locomotive. The only "coated" bullet I've ever used that has virtually no smoke, and is cleaner, in the barrel, than any "black" bullet I've shot is a Bayou bullet. If you're interested in Bayou bullets, don't go by his website, shoot Donnie an email. He has a LOT more bullets than his website shows.

I've never found a moly bullet that shot as accurately as jhps, out of any of MY pistols, but, I only have about 30 different pistols, so, your results may vary.

I have found that precision bullets do NOT shoot as well (in my 945) as conventional lead. I use Montana bullet for my cast bullets (or cast my own - a royal pain), and if I am going to PUSH them fast, where leading occurs, I order gas checked bullets. The only Moly bullet that ever shot well for me were the ones made by a company now defunct.....Bull-X. Those were fantastic....
For competition, when may not be allowed, I use Montana Gold Bullets that are JHP....incredibly accurate....or Nosler 185 JHP (much more expensive).

Precision had 38/357 bullets before they moved or something a few years ago.

The coating is great for keeping everything clean. They work well. For ultimate accuracy in a .38 I prefer a cast DEWC.

I have not tried Black bullets(Precision)...just now hearing about them. I do like The Blue Bullets and Bayou Bullets. Personally, I prefer cast bullets over jacketed I love Missouri Bullets but right now I'm preferring Summers Enterprise bullets. The quality is as good as any I've purchased from other companies and the cost is unbeatable IMO.

I've been very happy with Precision Bullets. They are accurate, don't smoke and leave the barrel very clean. I also like Bayou and Eggleston Bullets. Eggleston has the best variety of colors.
