SD Reload
Hi:
My previous post of a .357 SD load w/ 7.0 grains unique and a 158 grain JHP is for a S&W M19-4 w/ 2.5" barrel.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jimmy

I use the 158 gr. Speer Gold Dot HP with 14.2 grs. of 2400. I now have some of the obsolete Speer 146 gr. JHP which I use with the same powder charge. Or I just use a 158 gr. cast bullet with the same charge. It's somewhat easy to control in my 627 and accuracy is excellent. I'm not a huge fan of the .357 but if I had to use any of these loads I wouldn't complain.

I would use one of these two I have chronographed out of my 4" md 28.
158 gr cast SWC over 14.2 grs 2400 WSPM primer, 1308 fps
125 gr Sierra JHC over 17.5 grs 2400 WSPM primer, 1380 fps. Velocity
would be less in your 2 1/2" md 19 but still should suffice. I wouldn't
shoot a lot of either in a K frame.

"Any suggestions?"
For .357 mag. I have 2.75" barrel with a 158gr jhp I normally use AA#9.
But on my way there I found a great load, 10.2gr of AA#7 WSP is accurate and low flash.
